چکیده
Case Report This 2 year old girl was well until she awoke from a nap with left sided weakness. She was alert and aware of her deficit. Speech was not impaired. She was seen that afternoon by her pediatrician, but the hemiparesis (which lasted 15 minutes) had remitted by the time of examination. On the next day, she had a second 15 minute episode of left hemiparesis again following a nap. On the third day, she had another episode of left sided weakness and was hospitalized. Laboratory tests revealed severe normochromic, normocytic anemia (hemoglobin, 4 grams/dl; MCV, 82 FL; MCH, 29.7 PG; MCHC, 35.6%; reticulocyte count, 0.1%) while the white blood cell count, platelet count, and plasma glucose concentration were normal. She was transferred to The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. The physical examination revealed an alert, but pale child; neurological examination was entirely normal. A bone marrow aspirate was hypocellular with virtual absence of red cell precursors. A diagnosis of transient erythroblastopenia of childhood was made on the basis of her age, normal hemoglobin F, and absence of erythro-

Iron-Deficiency Anemia Leading to Transient Ischemic Attacks due to Intraluminal Carotid Artery Thrombus
Reactive thrombocytosis secondary to iron-deficiency anemia (IDA) is a rare but recognized cause of stroke. We report the case of a patient with iron-deficiency anemia presenting with multiple transient ischemic attacks (TIA) due to intraluminal thrombus of an internal carotid artery. The putative mechanisms underlying anemia and stroke syndromes are not completely understood, and it is believe...
متن کاملDifferent aspects of transient ischemic dilation
Transient ischemic left ventricular dilation (TID) is a marker of severe and extensive coronary artery disease as well as an increased risk of adverse outcomes. The patients with more severe and extensive ischemia, multivessel-type of perfusion abnormality as well as patients with left anterior descending artery (LAD) territory perfusion abnormality have more probab...
متن کاملCarotid body tumor: unusual cause of transient ischemic attacks.
Carotid body tumors are an unusual cause of transient ischemic attacks. The cases reported in the literature have been limited to the postoperative period. We report a patient with bilateral carotid body tumors and transient ischemic attacks as the presenting syndrome. A low-perfusion state could explain his symptomatology.
متن کاملCrescendo transient Aura attacks: a transient ischemic attack mimic caused by focal subarachnoid hemorrhage.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Diagnosis of transient ischemic attack can be difficult because many mimics exist. We report the clinical and neuroimaging features of a distinct hemorrhagic transient ischemic attack mimic. METHODS Case series. RESULTS We describe 4 elderly patients presenting with a cluster of stereotyped somatosensory migraine auras, initially referred for "crescendo transient isch...
متن کاملPositive platelet scintigram of a vertebral aneurysm presenting thromboembolic transient ischemic attacks.
We describe a patient with transient ischemic attacks secondary to a giant aneurysm who showed increased activity on platelet scintigrams at the origin of the left vertebral artery. This is assumed to be the first report of a presumed embolizing aneurysm with positive activity of labeled platelets. Platelet scintigraphy is useful for diagnosing transient ischemic attacks as being secondary to a...
